Manta Rays

Manta Rays are harmless, beautiful, and absolutely graceful. One of the best ways to observe them is to scuba dive at Manta Point in Nusa Penida. The Manta Rays in Bali can reach a wing span of up to three meters. A manta fly-by is a life changing experience. They are curious and don’t mind divers and snorklers at all. Come see them fly and glide in their natural habitat.

Ocean Sunfish (Mola Mola)

Between June to October you have a chance to encounter the amazing giant Ocean Sunfish (Mola Mola). Adults typically weigh between 250kg and 1,000kg. Because of its amazing weight it makes it one of the heaviest known bony fishes in the World. Typically they can been seen between 30-40m depth, so you need to be at least an advanced open water diver. The best dive sites to observe the Mola Mola is at Crystal Bay in Nusa Penida or Gili Mimpang.

Sharks

Scuba Diving in Bali you can encounter sharks at many of our bali diving sites. For example we can often find the rare Brown-banded Bamboo Shark at Manta Point in Nusa Penida. At other dives sites, such as Padang Bai or Gili Tepekong we can find the more common grey reef shark and often in groups. If small and cute sharks are your thing ask us and we will try our best to point them out to you.

Bali Diving Seasons, Weather, and Moon Cycles

The weather in Bali is always tropically warm and fairly constant. Daily high air temperatures vary between 30-32C, while during the night we experience 24-26C. Having said that the weather in Bali’s mountains is significantly cooler.

While temperatures change very little, the patterns of wind and rain in Bali create two distinct seasons. On the one hand we have the dry season from May to September. The wet or rainy season, on the other hand, is from November to March.

Diving in Bali is possible all year long. However, certain dive sites are favoured during certain months of the year. Dive sites like Nusa Penida and Amuk Bay (Padang Bai and the Gilis) are best experienced from June to October. During these months colder waters rise from the depths of the ocean. Hence, it is the best time to encounter the Mola Mola (Giant Ocean Sunfish). During the rest of the year sea temperature range between 26-28C but can occasionally drop below 20C.

The moon exerts a strong influence on tides. During full and new moon the moon and sun align. This produces so-called spring tides with extreme high and low tides. Drift Diving can be most challenging then. The first and three quarter moon produce more moderate tides and gentler currents. At many of Bali’s dive sites the tide has a stronger effect on dive conditions than the weather season.

You will be taken care of by one of our experienced and seasoned staff. When you compare schools, please note, that we have one of the lowest staff to student ratios on the island (usually 2:1 or 1:1). We understand your first dive is the most important one in your life and we want you to have a fantastic experience. This is why we prefer to keep our groups deliberately small.

Try scuba diving for the first time at the world famous USS Liberty Ship Wreck in Tulamben. If you prefer colorful coral reefs we can take you to Blue Lagoon in Padang Bai. We will not take you to Sanur like other dive schools do. You will love diving with us in the Balinese Sea.

Are you ready to get a Scuba Diver or Open Water Scuba Diver certification? You can get certified from the age of 10. We offer the full range of courses to start, continue, or complete your certification with us. As an SSI dive center, we teach the full range of SSI courses. Our experienced instructors can teach courses from other famous agencies as well.

We recommend studying the e-learning before you travel to Bali. Hence, arriving here in Bali, we will have more time to focus on the practical skills of the scuba diving course. With digital learning, you can study at home at your rhythm and spend more time practicing real diving with us.
