The dive site is suitable for snorkeling and all levels of divers. The second dive site, the BOGA WRECK, is only for Advanced divers as the wreck starts from 16 meters and goes down to 36 meters. Kubu Reef is full of beautiful and healthy coral, mixed with sandy bottoms and many interesting artificial reefs. This is a magnificent dive site. We encounter beautiful pinnacles where we see many soft and hard corals and an abundance of marine life. On occasion, we see Napoleon Wrasses, Eagle Rays, Barracudas, Octopus, big moray eel in the Boga Wreck, and even the huge Bump Head Parrot Fish.
The dive at Kubu Reef starts in a shallow coral garden with huge schools of fish and good Macro critters then goes down along a nice slope with and abundance of marine life and very interesting artificial reefs. There are also some nice pinnacles and Buddha statues covered with a variety of soft and hard corals. On occasion, we encounter Napoleon wrasses, eagle rays, octopus, barracudas, and sometimes a group of bump-head parrot fish comes by! On the sandy bottom at around 25m depth, you will see numerous blue spotted stingrays.
This is an excellent site for snorkeling, all levels of divers, and for underwater macro photography with the artificial reefs, the Buddha statues, special critters, and lots of nudibranchs.
The shipwreck “The Boga” was sunk in September 2012 in front of the beach of Kubu, around 60 meters from the shore. The ship was a former 150-ton cargo, almost 45-meter-long ship. It is now lying on a sandy bottom between 16 and 38m depth, perpendicular to the beach. As relatively new, the corals are just beginning to grow on it but we can expect that it will attract more and more marine life as the years pass.
The Boga includes some interesting pieces, like a ship steering wheel, Buddha statues, an army Jeep in the storage area, Some artificial treasures, and the propeller, still intact at the maximum depth of about 38 meters. This wreck offers easy access and exit, they took off all the dangerous things to avoid entanglement before they sunk it. Lets go!
