Are you ready to stay down longer and explore the parts of the reef that others have to leave behind? The SSI Decompression Diving course is your gateway to extended bottom times. Unlike standard recreational diving, which requires you to stay within “No-Decompression Limits” (NDL), this course teaches you how to safely plan and execute dives that include a limited amount of staged decompression. It is the only course that allows you to do decompression dives without using a full technical diving equipment configuration.

By moving beyond the “safety stop” into the world of “deco stops,” you gain the freedom to truly immerse yourself in the deep wrecks and vibrant walls of Bali.

What You Will Learn:

The SSI Decompression Diving specialty bridges the gap between traditional recreational diving and technical diving. You will master the skills and theory required to manage your gas and nitrogen loading with precision.

- ● Decompression Theory: Dive deep into the science of how your body absorbs and releases nitrogen, and how to use dive computers to manage deco schedules.
- ● Limited Decompression Planning: Learn to plan dives with a maximum of 15 minutes of decompression.
- ● Gas Management: Understand how to calculate your air consumption (SAC rate) to ensure you always have enough gas for your bottom time and your required stops.
- ● Equipment Configurations: Use your normal gear setup with an additional dedicated decompression cylinder.
- ● Emergency Procedures: Practice simulated emergency scenarios, such as managing a regulator failure or gas loss during a decompression phase.

We will complete all required skills exercises over 4 dives in the sea. We will take you to either Tulamben, Amed, Candidasa or Padang Bai to complete your training dives. We are doing all the confined-water skills in the sea: at this level, it is better to learn in a realistic environment.

Experience Summary

Prerequisites:

Open Water Diver Certified
Specialty Deep 40 meters
Specialty nitrox 40%
Minimum 16 years old
Minimum 24 dives logged

All Inclusive:

Learning Materials (SSI e-learning)
Decompression Diving Course Certification
Transport in air-conditioned bus to and from training site(s)
Experienced Decompression Instructor
The course is done over 3 days. You will have confined water sessions + 4 Open Water dives using a recreational diving configuration or using Sidemount configuration (for sidemount certifed divers).
The training dives will be done in Padang Bai, Candidsa, Tulamben, or Amed.
Porter available to carry the equipment/tank to and from the dive sites
Toilet, shower, and changing rooms
Drinks, snack and lunch are provided for the 3 days of course
Oxygen Kit and First Aid available on-site
