Kubu village is located just a few kilometres North of Tulamben area. Diving Kubu is amazing fun. To experience its pristine dive sites is an unforgettable memory .
There are two great dives sites in Kubu. Here, we find the Kubu Reef, a beautiful and colourful coral garden which is also perfectly suited for snorkeling and beginner divers. It is a great place for an SSI of PADI Open Water Diver Course. Advanced Open Water Divers with Deep Diving specialty will enjoy the Boga wreck.
We include all necessities and more into our price. For you, we tailor dive locations, trip duration, and extras to your exact preferences and diving skills. Please contact us regarding diving Kubu and we will tailor a perfect trip for you.
This quiet and relaxing region is located about 90KM from our dive shop, which makes it for an approximately 3,5 hours long drive from Sanur. The Drive is scenic, taking your through villages, coastlines, rice padi fields, and next to Mount Agung. Due to its distance we only come here as part of our Scuba Diving Packages and Dive Safaris. However, if you choose to do a 2-3 day scuba diving course, we can visit this area together with Tulamben for example.
Kubu Reef is full of beautiful and health coral. Mixed with sandy bottoms this is a magnificent dive site and ideally which suits perfectly to all beginners. We encounter beautiful pinnacles where we sight many soft and hard corals and an abundance of marine life. We regularly encounter reef sharks, including the blacktip and whitetip ones here. On occasion we see Napoleon Wrasses, Eagle Rays and even the huge Bump Head Parrot Fish.
The dive at Kubu Reef starts in a shallow coral garden with huge schools of fish then going down along a nice wall with and abundance of marine life. There is also a superb pinnacle covered with a variety of soft and hard corals. You can spot whitetip and blacktip reef sharks patrolling the area along the wall. On occasion we encounter napoleons, eagle rays, and sometimes a group of bump head parrot fish comes by! On the sandy bottom at around 25m depth, you will see numerous blue spotted stingrays.
The ship wreck “Boga” has been sunk in September 2012 in front of the beach of Kubu, around 25m from the shore. The ship was a former 150 ton cargo, almost 40 meters long ship. It is now lying on a sandy bottom between 13 and 32m depth, perpendicular from the beach. As relatively new, the corals are just beginning to grow on it but we can expect that it will attract more and more marine lives as the years will pass.
For the moment, the Boga includes some interesting pieces, like the ship steering wheel, a car in the storage area, and the propeller, still intact at the maximum depth of about 33 meters. Some of these pieces are made of wood, so probably they will disappear quite soon, leaving only the metallic framework behind. This wreck offers easy access and exit.
